SOLWAY FIRTH SERIES
In this trilogy, 'The Solway Firth', the Criffel Hill is depicted from Rogersceugh Farm near Bowness on Solway.
I wanted to convey the majesty and the unattainable, where in certain weathers the skies are at times indistinguigable from the summits of the hills. To emphasize this power, the trees appear somewhat lost and diminutive, tender and slightly fragile in this enormous landscape
THE PENNINGHAME PROJECT
Near my home lies Penninghame woods and a series of lochs. Being well off the beaten track the wildlife enjoys a peaceful life and so flourish abundantly.
I put together a series of ideas for some large canvases. The first painting,
'The Trees so Tall' was followed by 'Loch Garwackie', then 'Loch Spectacle'. 'Penninghame Pond' is now under way.
